I signed up for cryonics
I have successfully signed up for cryonics. I have chosen Tomorrow Bio as my provider because they’re in Germany, and that’s close by.
I have what’s called a “term life insurance”, which will expire in 2054. Basically I pay a premium every month to cover the costs of cryopreservation in case I die. If I’m still alive in 30 years, then I have to figure out how to pay for my cryopreservation once I die. Essentially the deal is “here’s coverage for if you die one of these days, but you really need to figure out how to earn more money and how to invest it”.
So now I’m officially racing against the clock to figure out investments which will net me whatever the cost of preservation is in the future (hundreds of thousands of euros). I mean, I’ve always been racing against time, but it’s just official right now.
With that being said, I feel like I am not fulfilling my earnings potential. It’s above average for the region, but I don’t know if regional comparisons are a good reference class. I think that “people in the Western world with remote-first jobs that have a similar level of mental capability as I do” is a much better reference class than “people in Croatia”, and in that reference class, I’m significantly below average, which directly affects how long I am going to live. So it’s not vanity or greed, it’s quite literally a question of life and death.
So yeah, that’s something to fix.
